Aleppo Oak Seeds (Quercus infectoria)

πŸ’° Price: Package of 5 Seeds

Quercus infectoria, commonly known as Aleppo Oak, is a small tree native to Greece and Asia Minor. It grows up to 1–2 meters (4–6 feet) and has crooked, shrubby-looking stems with smooth, bright-green leaves borne on short petioles of 3–4 cm (1–1.5 inches). The leaves are rounded, bluntly mucronate, unequal at the base, and shiny on the upper side. 🌿

One of the most unique features of Aleppo Oak is its galls, also called manjakani or majuphal. These galls form when gall wasps deposit larvae on the tree, causing a chemical reaction that produces hard, corrugated balls. Historically, these galls have been used for tanning leather, making black ink, and as a natural dye. They are also widely applied in traditional medicine, especially in Ayurveda, due to their astringent and tissue-tightening properties. πŸƒ

Majuphal Manjakani is particularly valued for women’s health. It helps restore vaginal and uterine elasticity after childbirth, prevents abnormal uterine bleeding, reduces abnormal vaginal discharge, and supports overall reproductive health. Its internal and external use can relieve urinary tract infections, heal damaged tissues, and rejuvenate vaginal health. The herb is rich in tannins, vitamins A and C, calcium, and protein, making it a powerful natural remedy for skin and tissue tightening. πŸ’§

For culinary use, Aleppo Oak galls can be ground and added to stews or mixed with cereals for bread preparation. They also contribute to the production of tannic acid, known as Aleppo tannin, which has applications in pharmaceuticals, food additives, dyes, inks, and metallurgical processes. πŸ₯˜
