Soil Type: | Richly manured ground. They like a rich soil, so dig in lots of organic material to planting position. |

Sowing Seed: | For a constant supply throughout the year, sow undercover from February - March then direct sow in April - early September. Easy germination. |
Spacing: | Plant seedlings 60cm apart if in rows. Sow 3-4 seeds in stations 23cm apart - leaving 35cm between the rows. |

Care tips: | Protect with cloches in winter for good quality growth. |
Harvesting: | The leaves will produce all year in the South or from April to December in the North. Harvest small leaves for salad from 8 weeks after sowing - a brilliant cut-and-come again crop. |
Cooking Notes: | Separate the white and the green for cooking, the white stems take 2-3 minutes longer (about 8mins) than the green leaves (5mins). |
