Musa yunnanensis, commonly called the Yunnan banana or wild forest banana, is a recently described banana species native to the montane forests of Yunnan, southern China. First collected in 2005 at an altitude of 1,150 meters in Xishuangbanna, this species has quickly gained popularity among exotic plant collectors for its cold-tolerant, fast-growing nature and striking appearance.
This unique banana features slender pseudo stems, often reaching 5–5.25 meters in height, with a white waxy coating tinged blue.
