A very nice taste, it is more commonly used as a vegetable or in sauces.
The fruit is rich in vitamin A and calcium.
It is sometimes made into a preserve in syrup, pickled or dried.
The ovate to oblong fruit is shiny green, 5 - 7 cm long, and 2 - 3cm wide.
Young leaves are served as a vegetable accompaniment to many Thai dishes and can be eaten either raw or cooked.
Propagation
Seed - easily germinated.
We have no specific information on this species, but the seed of most members of the genus can be slow to germinate, even if sown fresh, often taking 6 months or more.
